Today I love….Kawaii

3 Oct

Am I speaking English?

Well maybe not…..Kawaii is……

literally, “loveable” “cute” or “adorable” and has become a prominent aspect of Japanese popular culture, entertainment, clothing, food, toys, personal appearance, behavior, and mannerisms.[1]

I found Kawaii – thanks to Blythe, and my sister-in law’s Footpath travels to overseas lands….

One really cool site I love, love, love checking in on all the time is Spoonflower – last month they had a Kawaii competition for the best Kawaii fabric design! Here it is….

BYE 🙂

For now!!! 🙂

Today I love….Momiji

4 Aug

Momiji are hand painted Japanese themed dolls made in small village in Warwickshire, England…..

Each doll comes with a secret message card hidden in their bottoms!

Just as cute as the Unazukin…..maybe more with all their different little personalities!

They are to be loved and a definite collectable!

Now I just have to convince them to start shipping to Australia!!

Today I love….What a Unazukin can do for you….

16 May

My package arrived today and I am overjoyed and beyond belief at how cool these tiny things really are!

A hit with the kids, but also the big ones as well….

In one night, they have already given us lots of belly laughs and provide some intriguing insights….

Ask the Unazukins anything and they will be your oracle!!!

I promise I will do a video of my three little poppets when the time allows….

This video is a good example but I think I can do better….

This is a Unazukin!

Unazukin
Q: Am I the fairest of them all?

Experts reckon modern living affects your ability to make decisions. And they might be right – I can never make a decision…

The point is we’re always having to choose between yes, no and maybe. Annoying, yes?

Thankfully our good friends in Japan have created Unazukins –

impossibly cute little collectable dolls that help you make decisions

by responding to your questions with a nod or shake of the head.

Simply ask a question

(“Am I staggeringly attractive/Does my bum look big in this?”)

and your wise Unazukin oracles will answer with:

a yes (one nod), a definite yes (two nods), a no (one head shake), or a definite no (double head shake).

Unazukin
Q: Do you know the way to Amarillo?

Looking like Russian dolls with a cartoony twist, Unazukins are said to be wise fairies that live under big mushrooms in the woods = (pint of whatever the makers are drinking, please).

Dodgy mythology aside, these pocket-sized sages make ideal desktop companions

(“Shall I float the company for $100 billion?”)

and pretty nifty pencil case pals

(“Do I look silly talking to you during my final exam?”).

If you’re reading this and wondering whether Unazukins are going to be the next big thing, the answer is an emphatic YES!

These grinning yes/no dolls are already huge in trendsetting Japan.

Whether you’re using your Unazukin to:

predict the footy results,

settle a bet,

decide whose round it is,

decide what to wear today,

or simply adorn your desk,

I guarantee you’ll be unable to resist popping a

question every time you clap eyes on that adorable little face.

The only question left is this: do you want to be part of the Unazukin phenomenon?

Double nod? I’ll take that as a yes!

These are the ones I have ordered today:

Hydrangea:

Dot:And Opal: (October birthstone)

Ddung:

Kisses from me!
